FAQ

Do I need a membership at the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation?

Yes. A Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation (NSEF) membership is available to individuals and family units. Membership provides insurance for each rider. The cost is approximately $50 per year.

A NSEF Membership is required for all members participating in activities at Rocky Hollow Ranch Nova Scotia, as part of the standard operating procedures at ranches in Nova Scotia.

For information on how to apply for NSEF membership, please go to:
https://www.horsenovascotia.ca/Membership-Types

Proof of NSEF membership can be provided either in print, by text or email to
rockyhollow2017@gmail.com.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. Every rider/guardian does sign a waiver as part of standard operating procedure at ranches in Nova Scotia. This will be provided at the time of the first visit to the ranch.

Does a rider need special equipment?

Yes. Every individual must wear the following:

  • Fitted equestrian or high impact safety approved helmet with chin strap
  • Hard-soled boots with heel
  • Long, well-fitted pants (soft stretchable pants or jeans if possible)
  • Gloves (recommended, but not required)
  • No shorts, no sandals.

Weather/seasonal appropriate attire is required at all times. Riders must comply with equipment requirements in order to ride. If you have questions, please ask.

Is there a cancellation/rescheduling policy?

It depends on the program. However generally speaking private lessons require four-weeks advance notice of cancellation or rescheduling.

Cancellations made due to inclement weather or conditions will be rescheduled by Rocky Hollow Ranch for a specified date/time.

Refunds are not available for missed lessons or programming.

How are payments made?

Cash, money order or E-transfer ($ 2.00 fee added) to rockyhollow2017@gmail.com

Credit card payment is also accepted. Please note, an additional 5% will be added to credit card payments.

Please note: Cost of programs/lessons can change without notice.

Do I have to ride exclusively at Rocky Hollow Ranch while I take lessons there?

Yes. This protects our horses and our people.

What is the Tech Policy for students?

When we say ‘a tech-free experience,’ we mean it. We are a tech-free environment. Students are asked to leave devices at home (there is a phone for emergency calls) and everyone is asked to put their phone away while on the premises of Rocky Hollow Ranch.
